Darren Helm has been red hot lately, scoring four goals in his last four games. During that stretch, Helmer recorded his first career hat trick in Toronto, and a key first period goal last night against Buffalo.

He's today's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Avoid Cute-itis - As Babcock would say, avoid "cute-itis"; don't be too fancy, play a blue collar game, do the dirty work and you'll be rewarded.

Win the Battles - The one-on-one battles and the 50/50 battles add up in the end.

Support Gustavsson - Montreal is really starting to score. Play well in front of Monster and give him some help tonight.

A 23rd consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs is looking more and more likely with Detroit playing some of its best hockey down the stretch and beginning to get healthy.

Center Pavel Datsyuk, playing his first game since Feb. 27, didn't record a point in the Red Wings' 3-2 win Friday against the Buffalo Sabres but saw nearly 18 minutes of ice time and won 85 percent of his faceoffs. Veteran forward Daniel Alfredsson shook off back issues to return to the lineup, and in a span of 1:16 in the first period set up a power-play goal byTomas Jurco and scored what turned out to be the game-winner.

"We're going to keep going and we can't let up," Alfredsson said. "We've put ourselves in a good spot."

Tonight, the Wings will look to inch ever closer to that 23rd straight postseason appearance in Montreal.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight's 7:00 PM matchup on Fox Sports Detroit, CBC, or RDS, or listen in with Ken Kal and Paul Woods on AM 1270.
