The most wonderful time of the year has arrived. The time of year when every shift means more, every goal means more, every game means everything, and the time of year when one play here or there can determine whether a team achieves hockey immortality on Lord Stanley's Cup or has some extra unwanted tee time. It's the postseason; a place where stars become legends and a place that's become a routine accomplishment in Hockeytown for more than two decades.

This year has been an injury-filled transition year for the Red Wings, who squeaked into the postseason on the last game of the year, but none of that matters now; what matters is the Wings are in a 16-way tie for first and are the same number of wins away from hoisting Lord Stanley again as any team left standing. Tonight, they'll try to take one step closer by taking the opening game of the first round series against the Ducks.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight's 10:30 PM game on NBC Sports Network or Fox Sports Detroit, or TSN for our Canadian viewers, or tune in on 97.1 The Ticket.

Comerica Bank Game Day Preview - Dallas
Detroit Red Wings vs. Dallas Stars

POSTED ON Saturday, 04.27.2013 / 3:40 PM

“It's not like a few guys just got hot out of nowhere. It's because we're playing this way. It's keeping it straight and simple and throwing pucks to the net and going for rebounds. It's desperation.”
- Johan Franzen on the team's win streak

“Our top lines have been playing great and getting big goals. But anytime you can get depth scoring, it just helps so much, gives you an even broader attack. I think all four lines are playing really well.”
- Niklas Krownall

Jimmy Howard will be between the pipes again.

The Stars will have their backup goalie Richard Bachman in net.

“I think we've gotten a lot better as a team. All you've got to do is look back at our first segment, our penalty killing was 70 percent and our power play was 0-for. We just continued to get better as a team.”
- Mike Babcock

The Stars will be without D-Man Trevor Daley tonight.

Leave It All On The Ice
- Detroit has to come out and compete hard all game long. It's do or die time!

Play Disciplined - The Wings can't afford to take penalties. Play smart, move your feet, and stay out of the penalty box.

Get Good Goaltending and Play Solid Defense - Jimmy Howard has been really good and so has been the team defense. Detroit will need more of that tonight.
