Tied with Columbus at 71 points apiece, the Red Wings know just how crucial these two points are as they attempt to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a 23rd consecutive season.
"It's been like this for the last 4-5 years, playing our way in," Jimmy Howard said. "Even after the Olympics in 2010, we went on a serious run to get in the playoffs. It's been like this for a little bit. I think guys in here don't press the panic button. We just go out and continue to play.

"We need that stress to understand the significance of each and every game. Every game means so much."

Tonight, Detroit will look to continue that run and break ahead of Columbus for that last wild card spot.

Johan Franzen just continues to roll since the Olympic Break, notching an incredible 11 points in just 5 games, including a 4-point outburst (2 goals, 2 assists) in Friday's 7-4 win over New Jersey.

He's Detroit's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Find your Legs Early - It's an even earlier game due to the time change. The Wings need to get off to a good start.

Solid Goaltending - Jimmy Howard needs to make the big saves when he's tested. New York has a dangerous group of forwards and he'll need to keep them at bay.

Control the Tempo - Maintain a fast pace and have quick puck movement. Get the rushes going and play with intensity.

Despite playing without forwards Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit is 3-1-1 since the NHL season resumed following the 2014 Sochi Olympics. That run was punctuated Friday when the Red Wings scored a season-high in a 7-4 win against the New Jersey Devils at Joe Louis Arena.

That game was a showcase for the new line of Gustav Nyquist, Johan Franzen and David Legwand, who was acquired at the NHL Trade Deadline from the Nashville Predators. The trio showed remarkable chemistry against New Jersey, combining for four goals and 11 points. The hope now is that this top line can fill the offensive vacuum left by the losses of Datsyuk and Zetterberg, neither of whom is close to returning.

"They're world-class players," said Legwand. "Obviously, Gus is speed and skill and Mule [Franzen] is a big body that can skate. He's deadly from the top of the circles in, and he's a big body that loves to go to the net."

Today, the Wings will go for another W in a matinee matchup with the Rangers.
