Stay out of the Penalty Box - The Caps have one of the best power plays in the NHL. They will make you pay if you take penalties.

Get Started Early - Come to play. Take it to the Capitals early and strike early and often.

Play well in the Defensive Zone - Limit turnovers. Defensemen need to make a good first pass to the forwards. Jimmy Howard needs to be sharp in his return.

The good news is that help is on the way. Starting goaltender Jimmy Howard will be back after missing four games with a sprained left knee, and center Henrik Zetterberg (lower back) may be ready to go. Coach Mike Babcock said Thursday he thought his captain would be able to play. Zetterberg leads the Red Wings with 44 points in 40 games.

"We just have to see," Zetterberg told the media Thursday. "We've done everything we could so it doesn't get worse and now just hopefully stay on this path and it keeps getting better."

Hopefully, Z does stay on that path and play tonight as the Wings look to get back into that last playoff spot against Washington.
