Limit mistakes - Mistakes were costly yesterday against Boston especially when on the power play. Protect the puck at all times.

Play in the offensive zone - Take the play to the Oilers. Win the battles, retrieve loose pucks and create scoring chances.

Play better defense - The Red Wings have given up 10 goals in their last 2 games. Way too many goals against. Get back to the basics. The Wings need to buckle down.

For the first time this season, Detroit has lost back-to-back games in regulation following a 5-3 loss yesterday afternoon in Boston. "We didn't execute at all in our own zone and gave up a lot of chances," coach Mike Babcock said. "Our power play was no good, gave up two shorthanded goals. Our penalty kill was no good, couldn't stop them, so we weren't good."  Jonas Gustavsson was pulled after the second period after sustaining an injury and letting 4 goals on 23 shots in.

Tonight, the Red Wings face an Edmonton team that has dropped four in a row and  will also be desperate for a win. The Red Wings defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 at Rexall Place on Jan. 6.  Justin Abdelkader had a goal and two assists, and center Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and an assist. Oilers right wing Jordan Eberle had two goals. Jimmy Howard is expected to be back in goal tonight for Detroit.

Start On Time - The Red Wings are rested. Boston played an overtime game yesterday. Take advantage of this from the opening face off. Detroit needs to get off to a good start and dictate the play to the Bruins.

Play Fast - Boston will try to play physical and slow the game down. Need to make the Bruins skate. Move the puck and play fast.

Win the Goaltending Battle - Jonas Gustavsson needs to outperform Rask and be ready to start on time.
