Play a complete game - Be ready to play from the opening face off. Play a solid game and compete for a full 60 or 65 minutes.

Limit mistakes - Hockey is a game full of mistakes and Ottawa can be opportunistic. Make less miscues than your opponent and there's a good chance you'll win the game.

Win your shifts - Both teams have four solid lines. The Red Wings will need to outwork Ottawa shift after shift.

On November 24

1926: Detroit Cougars (before being re-named the Red Wings) recorded their first win in franchise history, 1-0, over the Black Hawks at Chicago. Frank Frederickson scored the game-winner, while Hap Holmes recorded the first shutout of his rookie season.

2006: Detroit's Chris Chelios became the all-time leader in games played by a U.S.- born player, when he appeared in the 1,496th game of his NHL career, a 3-2 loss to the visiting St. Louis Blues. He broke the record held by Phil Housley.

With Toronto in their rearview, the Red Wings aim to bounce back tonight against the Ottawa Senators. Detroit dropped the first meeting between these two teams twenty days ago 3-1. The Red Wings recalled veteran center Stephen Weiss, who scored two goals in two games over the weekend while playing with Grand Rapids. Weiss will slowly work himself into the line up and hopefully score some goals to add to the Red Wings depth. Datsyuk is still day-to-day with a lingering groin injury that kept him out of the last three games.

Look for the second line of Tatar, Sheahan, and Abelkader to stay together tonight. Since the switch, which occurred after last Sunday’s loss to Montreal, the new line has combined to produce six goals and 11 points in three games, including Saturday’s lone tally. “Yeah, they’ve been really great for us,” captain Henrik Zetterberg said. “Those guys played really good for us last year, maybe didn’t have the start that they wanted but they’ve been on fire here lately. They’re really good players and the plays they made today I think they could have had three or four goals. It’s fun to see.”

It will be Jimmy Howard between the pipes tonight for the Red Wings with Craig Anderson going for the Sens.
