After going down early in the third to the Sharks 1-0, a puck bounced off Patrick Eaves to tie it up at 1-1. After a scoreless OT, the Wings headed to a Shootout, where Damien Brunner put one past Antti Niemi to win it for Detroit!

"Just being a part of that culture and learning a lot from guys like Lidstrom and Zetterberg and Chelios and Draper and all those guys about how to win...All of those things were invaluable as far as my career goes.”
- Brad Stuart

"I love Stuey...We miss him. You're always going to miss the player, but you miss him as a man much more. He's a great person and we appreciate what he did for us.”
- Mike Babcock

Jonas Gustavsson will make his first start a Red Wing tonight.

"It's a real good opportunity for him. We need a win on the road and he's capable of doing that so get in there and play like you can.”

"I'm really excited. I'm always nervous before I play, but not to the point where it's a bad thing. I like to feel that nervousness.”
- Jonas Gustavsson

"I was happy with our game last night...I liked the fact that the D was big. They could skate and they went back and got pucks and paid the price to move it and get it out.”

Play Solid Defensively
- The defense really played well in LA last night; they need to be efficient and play the same way tonight.

Stay Out of the Sin Bin - San Jose is very good on the Power Play, so Detroit must be disciplined and not take penalties. Work hard and play smart on PK when shorthanded.

Capitalize on Scoring Chances - San Jose won't give you much, so make the best of scoring opportunities when given the chance.

Hey, this is Hollywood, why not give it a dramatic ending? The Wings held an early 1-0 lead, but after giving up a PPG to the Kings, Los Angeles tied it at 1-1. While tied at 1 at the Staples Center, Dustin Penner elbowed Brendan Smith to the head nowhere near the puck, but it appeared to be legal as no penalty was called. Nevertheless, Anze Kopitar scored with under 5 minutes left to put the Kings up 2-1, a lead they held on to until the game's end.

Thanks for tuning in to our Game Day Blog... We'll see you tomorrow when we take on the Sharks!
