The Wings jumped off to a hot start, getting off to a 2-1 lead midway through the second period, but a few bad bounces and a costly turnover in the neutral zone lead to the Ducks scoring three straight. An empty net goal by Andrew Cogliano put the game on ice to wrap up a 5-2 win for Anaheim.

Thanks for tuning in to our Game Day Blog...We'll see you on
Sunday when we head to Minnesota to take on the Wild!

Lidstrom
“It feels good to be back, just a different feeling when you’re walking in here and you’re not a player anymore. It feels good to see the guys and a lot of the other people around the team."
- Nicklas Lidstrom

"I just saw Homer and Nick in the hallway and told them, ‘I should have loved you more when you were here.’ I miss them so much, the puck got through the point all the time and Homer got the puck back."
- Mike Babcock

"I miss being in the locker room, being around the guys and I miss the game situations too...I don’t miss the day-to-day grind of practicing, but just going out there and playing in front of 20,000 people and the intensity of the crowd."
- Nicklas Lidstrom

Gustav Nyquist was called up from Grand Rapids this morning.

Bertuzzi

Todd Bertuzzi was placed on Injured Reserve with a sore back.

“Anaheim is playing real well, with a real good pace relative to what they have had the last couple of years. It’ll be a real test.”
- Mike Babcock

Tootoo

Jordin Tootoo will play in his 500th NHL game tonight.

"Nashville has done tremendous things for me both on and off the ice...(but) I’m a Red Wing and as I’ve said before, I’m going to do whatever it takes to get two points every night."
- Jordin Tootoo

Brunner

Damien Brunner's parents spent the week here in Detroit to watch their son during the homestand.

"They’ve enjoyed it. It’s been awesome. We spent a lot of time together. They were impressed with the arena and all the other stuff around the Red Wings."
- Damien Brunner on his parents visiting Detroit for the week

Be Strong on Power Play
- Anaheim's PK has really struggled this year, so the Wings have to take advantage of the PP opportunities when they get them.

Skate Hard, Short Shifts - Ice time needs to be distributed among all four lines and all players must contribute. The top guys played a lot of minutes last game, so concentrate on short shifts and playing hard.

Take Care of the Puck - The Wings need to limit their turnovers, especially in the neutral zone, to avoid odd man rushes on Jimmy Howard.
