The Red Wings have been hot lately, totaling 7 points in their last 4 games, but it's the suddenly surging Ducks who have made waves across the league as the NHL's surprise team so far. Anaheim has the second-best record in the NHL a quarter of the way through this truncated season.

Yes, the same Anaheim Ducks team that missed the playoffs by 15 points last season are 9-2-1, but the Wings have found their stride as of late and will look to continue their winning ways tonight at The Joe.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight’s 7:30 PM game on Fox Sports Detroit or tune in on 97.1 The Ticket.

The Red Wings came out firing tonight, scoring two goals in the first eight minutes, with several other opportunities, including a Kronwall slapshot that rang off the post. Nevertheless, the Blues battled back, scoring the next three goals. It wasn't until late in the second that Pavel Datsyuk's spectacular bank shot off the back of Jake Allen tied the game up, 3-3. After a scoreless third, the Blues took advantage of a bad bounce in overtime and pushed a rebound past Jimmy Howard.

Thanks for tuning in to our Game Day Blog...We'll see you on Friday when we're back at The Joe to take on the peaking Ducks!
