PK Must Be Good Again
- The Blues have 7 PPG in 3 games against the Wings this year. Detroit was perfect on the Penalty Kill last game against LA, so they need to pick up where they left off.

Dictate the Play - Set the tone early! The struggling Blues will come out firing, especially in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Wings need to feed off the crowd and come out strong.

Be Strong Between the Pipes - The Red Wings goalies have been outstanding, giving up only 4 goals in the last 3 games. They need good goalkeeping again tonight and good defense in front of Howie.

Well, three weeks later, that 6-0 drubbing the Wings took in St. Louis seems to be a distant memory. Since then, the Wings have gone 7-3-1 including two convincing victories over the Blues. On the flipside, the talented Blues have managed only one point in the month of February. Regardless, if tonight's game is anything like the last two meetings between the teams, it will be a fast, physical, and fun game to watch.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight’s 7:30 PM game on NBC Sports Network or TSN2 for our Canadian viewers, or tune in on AM1270.

Ericsson Wins It!
With just 5 seconds remaining, Jonathan Ericsson deflects a shot past Quick to seal the win for the Red Wings.

The Wings scored the first two goals early, but the Kings scored a last-minute goal to close out the first with the Wings up 2-1. Then the magic of Jimmy Howard happened. Again and again, Howie made incredible saves, controlled the puck, and never let one past him all game. But, with 53 seconds left, Alec Martinez scored to tie it up.

We're headed to overtime....just kidding. With 5 seconds left, a loose puck came towards Ericsson at the top of the right circle and his slapper trickled through the legs of Jonathan Quick as 20,066 fans threw their arms in the air. To say the least, the whole nation just saw what was probably the most exciting game of this young season.

Thanks for tuning in to our Game Day Blog...
We'll see you on Wednesday when we go for four in a row against the Blues!

Find Energy to Play Well
- The Wings are 3-0-0 in the first games of back-to-backs and 0-2-0 in the second games. With the defending champs at The Joe, the crowd will be loud and Detroit has to feed off the fans.

Continue Strong Defensive Play - The Wings have given up only 2 goals in the past 2 games. They've blocked shots, the forwards are helping out more, and the Penalty Kill has been better. They have to keep doing that and protect Jimmy Howard today.

Everyone Must Contribute - The big guys played a lot of minutes yesterday on both the Penalty Kill and the Power Play; Detroit has to get a lot out of their bottom-six and their defensemen to beat a deep team like the Kings.
