The Wings finished strong Wednesday night, netting three goals in the third to put away the Capitals 4-2 and look to win their second in a row tonight against the Los Angeles Kings. Detroit has won six of their past eight regular-season meetings against the Kings dating to 2011-12, and goaltender Jimmy Howard is a big reason why. Howard went 6-2-0 with a 1.88 goals-against average and .941 save percentage. The Red wings will be again without forward Johan Franzen (pulled groin) who has practiced for three straight days. He plans to return Sunday at the Buffalo Sabres. Regardless, Detroit seeks to extend their regular-season dominance over L.A.

Force Ovechkin to play both ways - He's one of the best in the game offensively. He's hard to contain. The key is to make him play in his own end. That's where he has been most vulnerable in the past.

Score on the PP - Detroit is 2 for 30 with the man advantage. They've gone 5 games without a PPG. They have to start finding the back of the net.

Get into the Capitals' defense - Detroit needs to make the Caps' D-Men work in their own zone. Take away their time and space. Force them to turnover the puck and take advantage when they do.
