The Wings scored the first two goals early, but the Kings scored a last-minute goal to close out the first with the Wings up 2-1. Then the magic of Jimmy Howard happened. Again and again, Howie made incredible saves, controlled the puck, and never let one past him all game. But, with 53 seconds left, Alec Martinez scored to tie it up.

We're headed to overtime....just kidding. With 5 seconds left, a loose puck came towards Ericsson at the top of the right circle and his slapper trickled through the legs of Jonathan Quick as 20,066 fans threw their arms in the air. To say the least, the whole nation just saw what was probably the most exciting game of this young season.

Find Energy to Play Well
- The Wings are 3-0-0 in the first games of back-to-backs and 0-2-0 in the second games. With the defending champs at The Joe, the crowd will be loud and Detroit has to feed off the fans.

Continue Strong Defensive Play - The Wings have given up only 2 goals in the past 2 games. They've blocked shots, the forwards are helping out more, and the Penalty Kill has been better. They have to keep doing that and protect Jimmy Howard today.

Everyone Must Contribute - The big guys played a lot of minutes yesterday on both the Penalty Kill and the Power Play; Detroit has to get a lot out of their bottom-six and their defensemen to beat a deep team like the Kings.

Babcock

"It was good for us, a good win for us, a hard fought win."
- Mike Babcock

Today's 2-1 win against Edmonton was everything a hockey game should be: exciting, fast-paced, intense, and very fun to watch. Even though the Wings only scored twice, they easily could have had five or six if it weren't for a phenomenal game by Nikolai Khabibulin. Nevertheless, the Wings scored enough to win and improve to 6-4-1.

Thanks for tuning in to our Game Day Blog...we'll see you tomorrow when we take on the LA Kings at 12:30 PM in Motown!
