Gustav Nyquist isn't the only one who's been racking up points lately. Tomas Tatar had two goals in the third period against Montréal on Thursday, which was his third straight multi-point game. He's also been a +6 over the Wings' last three contests.

He's Detroit's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Solid Effort - Every player needs to be on the same page and must be ready to compete. All the guys need to play an entire sixty minutes.

Score Early, Score Often - The Leafs tend to give up a lot of shots and scoring chances. Take advantage of those opportunities.

Defend Well - Detroit can't get into a run-and-gun game; Jimmy Howard needs to play well and the team needs to defend well in front of him.

Just a few weeks ago, the Red Wings were seven points back of Toronto and catching the Leafs looked like wishful thinking. After a few key wins by Detroit and seven straight regulation losses by Toronto down the stretch, the two teams are deadlocked at 80 points, and are in a four-way tie for the Wild Card spots in the East.

Tonight, Detroit will head into Toronto looking to make a big leap in the standings and separate themselves from the pack by earning two points.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight's 7:00 PM matchup on Fox Sports Detroit or CBC, or listen in with Ken Kal and Paul Woods on AM 1270.
