Really Focus on Having a Fast Start - Detroit had just 4 shots on goal in the 1st period vs the Flyers. Be ready to play when the puck a dropped.

Get Engaged Early - Whether it's a big hit or battling for the puck in the corner the need to get involved physically and mentally is important.

Keep the Puck Out of the Net - Mrazek needs to play well. Limit turnovers in the defensive zone which lead to scoring chances for the opposition. Play well in front of of Mrazek.

The only good to come of yesterday 7-2 loss against the Flyers, is that Detroit will play again only 20 hours later to try and put that game behind them. “You’ve got to hit rock bottom before you can turn it around. Hopefully we did that.”said Zetterberg. The Red Wings are 2-4-0 since the trade deadline, and Boston is right on their tails, down only three points in the Atlantic Division.

This afternoon, the Red Wings will go with Petr Mrazek in goal as they are set to face-off with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the third time this season. The Red Wings and Penguins have split their two earlier match-ups this year, Detroit winning 4-3 in overtime at home, and Pittsburgh winning at Console Energy Arena 4-1 a month ago.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight's 12:30 PM matchup on NBC, or listen in with Ken Kal and Paul Woods on 97.1 The Ticket.
