Don't cheat - It's natural to cut corners when things are going well. Buckle down. Hard work and doing things right equals success.

Tighten up defensively - Play better in the defensive zone. Possess the puck. The best defense is to have the puck.

Start fast - Both the Red Wings and the Islanders are coming off losses. Both teams are good, and good teams usually turn it around quickly after a loss. Match and surpass the Islanders' intensity. Get going early.

The Red Wings lose a tough one in Tampa Bay tonight 5-1. Darren Helm was Detroit's lone goal scorer of the night. Tom McCollum was perfect in relief, stopping all 17 shots fired at him.

Thanks for tuning into our GameDay Blog. We'll see you Saturday afternoon back at The Joe when we host the Islanders.
