Buffalo Wild Wings Hot Wings

(Photo by Andrew Kristoff/Detroit Red Wings)

The Magic Man continues to dazzle, going on an amazing tear lately without showing signs of slowing down. Pav scored a critical third period goal in Thursday's 3-2 victory in San Jose, giving him his seventh goal in seven games. Pav also has four helpers during that stretch, giving him a total of 11 points in the past seven games.

He's Detroit's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Weather the storm - Bridgestone Arena is a tough building to win in. The Preds are 26-4-1 at home plus they are coming off a loss to Minnesota. They're gonna be fired up. Will be a hornets' nest today.

Get to the front of the net - Goalie Pekka Rinne is one of the best in the NHL. We need to screen him and get shots through, which is tough to do because their defense is solid. They don't give up a lot of goals.

Win the special teams battle - Take advantage of these situations. The Red Wings are better in the PP and PL categories. They'll need to excel in these areas this afternoon.

Detroit is finishing a challenging portion of its schedule. This is the Red Wings' sixth straight road game, and 17th in their past 23. They haven't seemed to slow down though, going 10-5-1 thus far before capping the stretch against Nashville, the only other team in the NHL that has not lost consecutive games in regulation.

Detroit is 3-1-1 on this road trip, which includes victories at the Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks.

Defenseman Brendan Smith doesn't have a fractured arm, just a bruise, after being slew-footed by San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture. Defenseman Kyle Quincey (bone chips in ankle) is ready to play if Smith cannot go. Backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson will start as the Red Wings look to close out the trip on a high note in the Music City.
