Shoot the puck - With Pekka Rinne out the Red Wings need to get shots on backup Carter Hutton. Make the best of their chances.

Get into Nashville's defense - The Preds are solid back on the blue line. They don't give up a lot of scoring chances. Play more in their zone and make the best of scoring chances.

Start fast - First game back after a long road trip is always tough. Getting the lead and not playing from behind will be critical in this game.

After seventeen days and six games, the Red Wings will return home to face-off against the leagues top team, the Nashville Predators. Detroit is riding a two-game win streak after going 4-2 on their recent road trip. Nashville, on the other hand, hasn't lost a game in regulation in their past ten (8-0-2) and are currently riding a five-game win streak.  Petr Mrazek has started the past four games (3-1-0) for Detroit, not allowing more than two goals in any of those games. The Red Wings have won four of their past five, and they have lost three times in regulation in their past 11 games (7-3-1). Detroit will get a bit of a break tonight, as Nashville will be without their top goaltender Pekka Rinne. The Red Wings have won 31 of 44 games all-time against Nashville at Joe Louis Arena.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hot Wings

(Photo by Dave Reginek/Detroit Red Wings)

Justin Abdelkader has been rolling all year long, and the past four games have been no exception. Abby's assist on the game-winning goal against Buffalo on Tuesday gave him his sixth point in his last four outings. Abby also has a history of playing strong against the St. Louis Blues, finding the back of the net twice when these two teams met in last year's regular season finale.

He's Detroit's Hot Wing by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Shut down the Blues' offense - St. Louis has 29 goals during their five-game win streak. Spend more time in their zone and control the puck.

Start fast - Get the lead and hold onto it. It's tough to play catch-up hockey against this group.

Stay out of the box - The Blues haven't scored a PPG in their last two games, but prior to that they netted 8 in 18 chances. Keep their power play at bay because they can be explosive.
