Tonight marks the first of a quick two-game home stand after the Red Wings obtained 4 of a possible 6 points in Colorado, Phoenix, and Pittsburgh. Detroit has won 8 of their past 10 and see themselves 3 points within first place in the East, behind Tampa Bay and Montreal.

Tonight's match-up features a 'new-look' Winnipeg team that sent forward Evander Kane and defenseman Zach Bogosian to Buffalo, in exchange for defenseman Tyler Myers and forwards Drew Stafford, and Joel Armia. Jimmy Howard (out since Jan. 10th) will start for the first time after missing 11 games due to a groin injury. "You can work out and practice as much as you want, but until you get in there and you get a taste of the speed again, you sort of forget what it's like, so it was good (to play)," Howard told the Red Wings website. "I just treated it like a practice." Detroit has not lost back-to-back games in regulation. The Red Wings host Montreal on Monday before they begin a six-game road trip through the Western Conference.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hot Wings

Look out Hockeytown, Darren Helm is coming in hot! Helmer is having a stellar year, playing along side Tomas Tatar and Pavel Datsyuk. Helm has recorded goals in consecutive games for the second time this season and has put up four points in as many games. (3 goals, 1 assist). Helm's speed and gritty play has been a major reason why the Red Wings have won 9 of their past 10 decisions.

He's Detroit's Hot Wing by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Tighten up - The Wings have certainly done this since the Tampa Bay game.  They've allowed just 2 goals in their last 3 games. They need that to continue tonight.

Win the special teams battle - Both teams are in the top 10 in both pp and PK. Detroit has won their last 9 games when they've netted a pp goal.

Win the goaltending battle - Mrazek has been sharp. He'll be tested against a team that can be very explosive.  Petr needs to out duel Fleury.
