Niklas Kronwall has been a beast on the blue line all year for Detroit, and the past few games have been no different. Kronner has netted 4 points in the past three games for Detroit (1 Goal, 3 Assists) which included the game winner in last Saturday's 7-6 overtime win in Dallas. Kronwall leads all Red Wings' defenseman with 35 points.

He's Detroit's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Need a fast start - San Jose has dropped 6 straight at home. Don't give the Sharks or their crowd any life. Take it to them early.

Power play needs to come alive - Detroit was 0 for 5 vs LA. A couple of pp goals would have been the difference vs the Kings. Make the best of scoring chances while on the pp

Balanced scoring - Pavel Datsyuk has been carrying the load lately. All 4 lines need to contribute offensively.

The Red Wings will play their third consecutive game in California Thursday night, which will also be their third straight playing without captain Henrik Zetterberg. The Red Wings are not calling the injury a concussion, but Zetterberg said Tuesday he's experiencing "some symptoms that I don't have when I'm 100 percent." Jimmy Howard is expected to start in goal tonight, after backup Jonas Gustavsson made 26 saves in a 1-0 loss Tuesday night in LA. "I thought Gustavsson played well,"  said coach Babcock. "I think Gus plays well all of the time, he just doesn't play. He's been injured so much, so when he plays I think he plays well. I think he gives us a chance most nights."

Detroit will look to avenge last seasons series with the Shark, where they were swept by San Jose in two games played. A 1-0 shootout loss at Joe Louis Arena and a 4-1 loss at SAP Center.
