"We should be fresh and ready to go...anytime you get time off you've got to get yourself back going, and ideally that'll start tonight right when they drop the puck."
- Mike Babcock

Dan Cleary will return to the lineup tonight in place of
Teemu Pulkkinen, who's back in Grand Rapids.

Get the legs moving early - Both teams will probably struggle out of the gate due to having six days off. Getting "the jump" early is necessary for a victory.

Get engaged - Not talking about wedding plans on the beach here. Get physically involved and play with intensity from the opening face off.

Continue to light the lamp - The Red Wings have scored 16 goals in their last three games. The Panthers don't give you much and neither does Roberto Luongo. We'll need to find a way to put the biscuit in the basket.

Gordie Howe sets an NHL record with 19 shots on goal, as the Wings tie the New York Rangers 3-3. Surprisingly, Howe doesn’t score.

Detroit went into the break on a high note after winning five straight games. The Red Wings are 10-3-0 since losing six straight games in December, which has vaulted them back into the race for the Atlantic Division lead despite goalie Jimmy Howard's torn groin. Petr Mrazek has responded well; he's started all five games since Howard got hurt and is 4-0-0. Howard skated for about 20 minutes at practice Monday and hopes to return in the original 3-4 week timeline. Forward Tomas Jurco (back) practiced, but is questionable. Defenseman Jakub Kindl (elbow) may come off injured reserve, but isn't likely to play over rookie Xavier Ouellet.

Tonight the Red Wings will face-off against the Florida Panthers for the third time this season. Goalie Roberto Luongo earned wins in the first two games against the Detroit Red Wings, making 67 saves on 72 shots for a .930 save percentage. Center Pavel Datsyuk has a goal and two assists to lead the Red Wings. Petr Mrazek will get the nod in goal for the sixth straight time for the Wings.
