Be hard in the Offensive Zone - The Red Wings need to win the 1-on-1 battles and get traffic in front of the net.

Solid Goalkeeping - This one sounds like a broken record, but these are critical games. With just 18 games left, the Detroit goalies need to play well.

Limit Turnovers - Take care of the puck, especially in the defensive zone. The Wings need to play smart and make good decisions.

Tied with Columbus at 71 points apiece, the Red Wings know just how crucial these two points are as they attempt to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a 23rd consecutive season.
"It's been like this for the last 4-5 years, playing our way in," Jimmy Howard said. "Even after the Olympics in 2010, we went on a serious run to get in the playoffs. It's been like this for a little bit. I think guys in here don't press the panic button. We just go out and continue to play.

"We need that stress to understand the significance of each and every game. Every game means so much."

Tonight, Detroit will look to continue that run and break ahead of Columbus for that last wild card spot.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.
