Buffalo Wild Wings Hot Wings

Justin Abdelkader has been rolling all year long, and the past four games have been no exception. Abby's assist on the game-winning goal against Buffalo on Tuesday gave him his sixth point in his last four outings. Abby also has a history of playing strong against the St. Louis Blues, finding the back of the net twice when these two teams met in last year's regular season finale.

He's Detroit's Hot Wing by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Shut down the Blues' offense - St. Louis has 29 goals during their five-game win streak. Spend more time in their zone and control the puck.

Start fast - Get the lead and hold onto it. It's tough to play catch-up hockey against this group.

Stay out of the box - The Blues haven't scored a PPG in their last two games, but prior to that they netted 8 in 18 chances. Keep their power play at bay because they can be explosive.

The Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues, once longtime division rivals, play for the first time this season tonight. Detroit is ending a six-game trip, where they've gone 3-2-0 after a 3-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Young netminder Pete Mrazek made 25 saves, is 6-3-1, and will get the bulk of the work until Jimmy Howard (groin) returns in 2-4 weeks. "We can't be happier with the way Petr's playing," defenseman Kyle Quincey said. "We're confident going forward he can keep playing well for us."

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenesinformation, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

Petr Mrazek grew up idolizing fellow Czech Dominik Hasek. Before the game, Petr watched Dom's jersey soar into immortality as #39 was raised to the rafters at First Niagara Center. When the puck was dropped, Petr put on a show that would make his countryman proud, holding the Sabres to just one goal as he led the shorthanded Red Wings to a 3-1 victory in Buffalo.
