Although Gustav Nyquist has yet to score in 2015, he has still been racking up points. Nyquist has played set-up man for the past five games, recording 6 assists. The Red Wings will hope for the Goose to break loose tonight in Buffalo as they will look to get an important two points. Gus Nyquist now has 29 points on the season, 15 goals, 14 assists.

Opportunity knocks - Time for Petr Mrazek to shine. With Howard out Mrazek has the chance to play well and impress the coaching staff.

Don't give Buffalo any life - The Sabres have lost 7 straight and are 1-8-1 in their last 10 games. Be ready to play and execute the game plan.

Start fast & finish strong - It's been 9 games since Detroit scored the first goal of the game. Get the early lead, start on time and finish the job.

Detroit continues their road trip tonight as they take on the Buffalo Sabres on a night Dominik Hasek's jersey is sent to the rafters. Dom's countryman, Petr Mrazek will take over in goal after the Red Wings lost Jimmy Howard Saturday night in Washington. An MRI done Sunday showed a slight groin tear. Howard underwent an ultrasound Monday to further assess the injury. The Red Wings think Howard could miss up to four weeks, which takes him off the NHL All-Star roster. Detroit is about to play five games in eight days, which will test Mrazek. The Red Wings are without forwards Johan Franzen (possible concussion) and Tomas Jurco (back) and defenseman Jakub Kindl (elbow). Tonight will be the third time these two clubs meet, Buffalo winning the first in  shootout, and Detroit winning at home 6-3, Detroit scored four times third period, including the final three on power plays.
