Justin Abdelkader is heating up! After going two games without a point, Abby rebounded last night with a big 3 point performance (1 goal, 2 assists). Abdelkader has been a road warrior all season, with 8 of his 10 goals being scored away from home. Abby now has 3 goals and 2 assists in his past five games, totaling 10 goals (career high) and 11 assists on the year. Abdelkader and the Wings look to keep it going tonight when they visit Calgary.

He's today's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Score first - This sounds like a broken record, but it's easier to play with the lead. The last time Detroit scored first in a game was 8 games ago vs NYI.

Put pressure on Calgary's defense - This causes turnovers which result into scoring chances then into goals. Win the battles especially in the corners.

Mrazek must be sharp - Mrazek last played on Dec. 23rd. Calgary generates offense from their defense so he will see many shots tonight. They will be in attack mode plus they are well rested. He needs to play big.

The Red Wings will travel 172 miles south to face the Calgary Flames tonight after defeating the Edmonton Oilers last night 4-2.  Pavel Datsyuk's power-play goal with 34 seconds remaining in regulation broke a 2-2 tie, and Luke Glendening hit the empty net with three seconds left. Justin Abdelkader matched his career-high by scoring his 10th goal. Detroit was 3-for-6 on the power play, and goaltender Jimmy Howard made 21 saves.

“That was a huge turn of events,” Gustav Nyquist said. “I thought we played well. I thought we had a strong game. We didn’t give them any chances but they have some skilled forwards and they put it in the net to tie it up (in the third). Obviously that was a big penalty for us to get that power-play goal at the end.”

Howard will get the night off tonight as back-up Petr Mrazek will start in goal for Detroit. The Red Wings will also be without forward Tomas Jurco, who left Tuesday's game because of back spasms,  per coach Mike Babcock.
