Henrik Zetterberg has been red hot this year, leading the team with 23 points, but he has also been hot against Carolina. In just 10 career games against the Canes, he has 9 goals, including a game-tying goal that came with just 17 seconds to go when the teams met last month.

He's today's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

"(Nyquist's) job, and no different tonight if I were him, he's still allowed to go back to the minors, is be so good tonight that you put so much pressure on the coach and the manger that they have to do something about it."
- Mike Babcock

"We all know that we're in need of a win here as a team and obviously we've lost a few in a row up here and at home as well.
So that's something we want to change tonight."

Be Confident - Put last game and the OT and shootout losses behind you. Trust in your abilities and in your teammates. All teams experience these stretches during a season. Things can turn around in a hurry.

Be Competitive - Win the one-on-one battles. Work hard every shift for a full 60 minutes (or full 65 minutes).

Possess the Puck - Good things happen when you have the puck. When your opponents are constantly chasing you, it is exhausting for them, which often leads to penalties being taken. Be on the attack, get shots to the goalie, and get multiple scoring opportunities.

This is the second of three between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Detroit Red Wings. The teams met Oct. 4, a 3-2 overtime win by the Red Wings in which Stephen Weiss scored the game-winner.

The Wings enter the game having not won since Nov. 2, going 0-2-5 since then. At Joe Louis Arena, their winless skid is eight games, the team's longest since 1991.

"It's just a frustrating time for us right now. It doesn't seem like anything's going our way out there, but you've got to go out there and work for your breaks," goalie Jimmy Howard said after a 2-0 loss to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Tonight, the Wings will look to get back on track against Carolina.

Welcome to the Detroit Red Wings Game Day Blog, where you can get behind-the-scenes information, thoughts from players and staff, and up-to-date news on anything and everything Red Wings on game day.

You can watch tonight's 7:30 PM matchup on Fox Sports Detroit, or listen in with Ken Kal and Paul Woods on 97.1 The Ticket.
