Get into the Canadiens' "D" - Montreal scores a lot, but they give up a lot, too. So far, they've allowed twenty goals in six games. Attack their defensemen and make them work.

Tighten up - Use team speed to shut down Montreal's offense. Take away their time and space.

Stay out of the box, and be strong on the penalty kill - Montreal has three power play goals in their first six games. Continue to be solid on the PK. Detroit is a perfect 17/17 on the PK, one of only two teams to not allow a power play goal. They must be strong again tonight.

Center Pavel Datsyuk may make his season debut tonight against the Canadiens after a shoulder injury sidelined him for the past four weeks. Pav practiced with contact Monday and will decide after the morning skate on Tuesday if he is fit to return, which might be the spark Detroit's struggling power play needs to get going. The Red Wings have scored twice in 21 opportunities. "We have to get more pucks to the net," defenseman Niklas Kronwall said. "We've been a little bit too stationary once we do enter the zone. We need to make sure we have more motion." The Red Wings are on a 2-0-1 run as they get set to face an Atlantic Division opponent for a fourth straight game. Forward Johan Franzen was put on the seven-day injured reserve list because of a muscle spasm he sustained in his thigh Friday in a 4-1 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Franzen did not play Saturday in Detroit's rematch against the Maple Leafs, a 1-0 overtime win at Joe Louis Arena. Jimmy Howard will start in Montreal after a groin injury forced him onto the 48-hour goaltender injured reserve list. Goaltender Petr Mrazek was assigned to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.

The Red Wings and Maple Leafs played the second game of their home-and-home series Saturday night where The Joe was a buzz and tensions were on the rise between the Original Six rivals. Fans packed the house and the Red Wings home crowd did not go home disappointed. The Captain, Henrik Zetterberg, saved the day and thrilled the Red and White faithful once again by scoring in sudden death overtime. Zetterberg scored his first goal of the season on a one-timer from the high slot with a mere nine seconds left in OT. Jonas Gustavsson stood on his head until the very end and shut out the Maple Leafs with 30 saves.

Thanks for tuning into our Game Day Blog... we'll see you Tuesday from Montreal.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hot Wings

It’s not often that Captain Henrik Zetterberg has an “off” night; however, when he does, expect him to come back with a vengeance. Last night Zetterberg didn’t disappoint - the Captain set-up every one of the Red Wings goals in a 4-1 victory over The Maple Leafs.

He's today's 'Hot Wing' by Buffalo Wild Wings!

Control the faceoff circle - Puck possession starts when faceoffs are won. It'll be a key part of pulling out a W tonight.

Get traffic in front - Detroit did well in this area last night. They need to get into these dirty areas to put the puck in the net.

Convert on the power play - The Wings were 0/5 last night with the man advantage. The power play needs to come alive and do a better job tonight.
