Celebrity Influence: We have Kid Rock and Eminem. They have Carrie Underwood (who is married to Predators forward Mike Fisher) and Taylor Swift. Aretha Franklin has ties to both Michigan and Tennessee, as she was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and later grew up in Detroit.
Greek Influence: We have Greektown. They have a full-scale replica of the Parthenon.
Power in Numbers: The all-time record attendance at Michigan Stadium is114,804, while Neyland Stadium once topped out at 109,061. Go Blue!
Seafood Tradition: We all know the legend of the octopus, but Nashville has the catfish. The tradition supposedly dates back to an art contest held in 2003 Artists painted big fiberglass catfish that were placed across the city. Somehow, one fan snuck a real live catfish into the building, threw it onto the ice surface and the whole thing stuck.
That’s the story we’ve been told and we’re sticking to it, unless proven otherwise.
Main Street: Woodward holds the heart of Detroit, while Broadway boasts the best of Nashville.
Concert Venue: They have the Grand Ole Opry, while we have the FOX Theatre.
The Die-Hards: Ours are Wing Nuts, while the Predators rowdy fans sit in a section called ‘Cell Block 303.’
