• In his second season in the Western Hockey League Ferraro led all Red Deer Rebels in goals (37) and assists (18) in 68 games, capturing the team’s Most Valuable Player and the Leading Scorer award.

• Ferraro was selected to participate in the 2009 CHL Top Prospects Game and claimed the fastest skater title, winning the event with a fastest lap time of 14.009 seconds and edging out fellow prospect Cody Eakin of the Swift Current Broncos (14.011).

• Ferraro represented Team Canada at the 2009 Under-18 World Championships, recording four points (2-2-4) in five games. His previous international experience came from representing Team Pacific at the 2008 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, finishing fourth.

• His father, Ray, played 18 seasons in the NHL (1984-2002) with five teams (Hartford, NY Islanders, Los Angeles, Atlanta and St. Louis) and is now a color commentator for TSN. In his second WHL season (1983-84), Ray scored 108 goals with the Brandon Wheat Kings, a record that still stands.

• His step-mom, Cammi Granato, captained the United States’ women’s hockey team to gold at the 1998 Olympics and silver at the 2002 Olympics. In 2008, she was one of the first three females to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame and the first into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

• Prior to playing in the WHL, he played for the Vancouver North West Giants in 2006-07 competing in Canada’s National Midget Championship and was named to the British Columbia Major Midget League All-Star team.

• Ferraro credits both his mom and dad for having a big influence on his career and he wears number 13 after Mats Sundin.
