DETROIT – Center Pavel Datsyuk is not in the Red Wings line tonight against the Anaheim Ducks. According to published reports, he is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
Prior to Friday, Datsyuk had registered goals in three straight games. It was the first time in more than a year that the Wings’ Russian star had scored in three consecutive games.
This season, Datsyuk has six goals and eight assists in 13 games.
The Red Wings recalled rookie forward Gustav Nyquist from the club’s AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids earlier in the day. He will replace Datsyuk on the second line, working with forward Justin Abdelkader and center Valtteri Filppula.
The 23-year-old Nyquist leads the Griffins, and is tied for fourth in AHL-scoring with 45 points. He has 17 goals and 28 assists in 47 games. This is the second stint with the Red Wings this season. He played in the team’s home opener on Jan. 22.
Nyquist has one goal and six assists in 19 career NHL games.
The Red Wings also placed veteran forward Todd Bertuzzi (back) on injured reseve today.
