Czech Republic native has appeared in two career games with Detroit

DETROIT – The Red Wings today assigned goaltender Petr Mrazek to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

Mrazek, 21, served as the backup goaltender to Jonas Gustavsson last night, as the Red Wings improved to 5-2 on the season with a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Mrazek has appeared in two career games with the Red Wings, posting a 1-1 record, a 2.02 GAA and a 0.922 save percentage. In 2012-13, he also suited up in three games for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, owning a 2-1 record, a 2.02 GAA and a .944 save percentage, and 42 games for the Griffins, showing a 23-16-2 record, a 2.33 GAA and a .916 save percentage.

Mrazek also helped the Griffins to a Calder Cup championship as a first-year pro, posting a 15-9 record in the postseason alongside a 2.31 GAA, a .916 save percentage and four shutouts.
