Red Wings continue playoff hunt with three games in four days this week

DETROIT – The Red Wings today recalled center Cory Emmerton from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

A native of St. Thomas, Ontario, Emmerton is tied for fourth on the Griffins with 32 points (12-20-32) in 41 games. The 25-year-old forward is tied for fifth on the club in goals, ranks fourth in assists and is tied for the team lead with two shorthanded goals. He has also skated in 11 contests for the Red Wings this season, recording two points (0-2-2). In 132 career NHL games since 2010-11, he has tallied 21 points (12-9-21) and 22 penalty minutes, in addition to two points (1-1-2) in 18 career NHL playoff games. The sixth-year pro has played 258 career games for Grand Rapids, recording 143 points (46-97-143) and 80 penalty minutes.
