Goalie Chris Osgood and Carhartt's Sanja Zarubica
DETROIT Watch presentation Off to the best start of his 14-year NHL career, goalie Chris Osgood is turning heads in Hockeytown and across the league, sporting the NHL’s best goals against average (1.79) and just one regulation loss in 15 starts. And now he’s been recognized again, being named the Carhartt “Hardest Working” Player of the Month for November.

Osgood received his award from Carhartt sponsorship and event specialist Sanja Zarubica during a pre-game ceremony on December 7.  He is the second Wings' player honored, joining center Henrik Zetterberg, who was recognized for October.

During the 2007-08 regular-season, Carhartt is presenting the monthly award to the hardest working Red Wings’ player, along with Carhartt merchandise. The award recognizes the player for his hard work and individual dedication to commitment necessary to excel on the ice. The Red Wings’ coaching staff and front office personnel select the monthly recipients.

In November, Osgood started eight of the Red Wings’ 12 games, amassing an 6-1-1 record, that included a shootout win against Columbus on Nov. 24 where he stopped 36 of 40 shots and denied three of five Blue Jackets in the shootout for Detroit’s 5-4 win.

He also notched his first shutout of the year against St. Louis on Nov. 21, stopping 12 shots in a 3-0 win. It was his 44th career shutout, which ranks fifth among active NHL netminders.

Although Osgood’s only regulation loss came against Chicago on Nov. 11, it was a brief blip in a streak that saw the Red Wings’ goalie earn at least a point in 20 straight games (15-0-5). It was the second longest point streak of his career. He holds the two best winning streaks (20 and 21 games) in the league since 1989-90.

For over 115 years, Carhartt has manufactured premium workwear known for exceptional durability, comfort, quality of construction, and fit that you can feel in the fabrics and see in the performance. Established in 1889, Carhartt is family-owned and operated with over 4,000 employees dedicated to providing Best-In-Class apparel for the active worker.

Carhartt and the Red Wings would like to recognize Chris Osgood for his outstanding work and success during the month of November and wish him continued success throughout the remainder of the 2007-08 season.
