Red Wings to 'Deck the Halls' this Wednesday

Monday, 12.17.2007 / 10:20 PM / Community
By John Hahn  - Senior Director of Communications
DETROIT -- The Red Wings will “Deck The Halls” and celebrate the holiday season this Wednesday, December 19 when they turn Joe Louis Arena into a holiday party from the top of the suites to the bottom of the Olympia Club and everywhere in between.

Holiday carolers and Joe Louis Arena staff in Santa hats will greet fans as they enter Joe Louis Arena, which will be strung with lights throughout the concourse. Santa Claus will be going door-to-door throughout the suite level and fans in the Olympia Club can enjoy Candy Cane Martinis, carolers and a Ginger Bread House created by chef John Borso.

Direct from Santa’s workshop, Wings' fans can finish up their holiday shopping with a “Buy One Item, Get a Second Item for 50 percent” special (second item equal or lesser value) on all the great Red Wings merchandise, including several items designed just for the holidays. Santa’s helpers also will be on hand at a special Pin Trading Center.

In the arena, fans can enjoy holiday video greetings from Red Wings players in their native languages, a special highlight video of the Wings in action set to holiday music, Al and Ray driving decorated Zambonis and contests with great Red Wings holiday merchandise as prizes.

For the hockey fan on your list, The “Hockeytown Holiday Pack” is the perfect holiday gift. It  includes any two regular-season Red Wings home games, all four games of the 2007 Great Lakes Invitational, featuring Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech and Providence, $10 in food and beverage coupons at the GLI or Red Wings games (alcohol not included) and your choice of a “Fire on Ice” t-shirt or Red Wings calendar all for just $96.

Fans can purchase a great stocking stuffer and help the community by participating in the Detroit Red Wings Foundation Holiday Puck Draw on the concourse. For just $20, fans can purchase a puck autographed by one of the current Red Wings. One lucky fan who draws a puck signed in gold will win the chance to meet a Wings player after the game. Proceeds will benefit the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and local shelters for abused and battered women.

Doors open at 6:00 pm for the Wings vs. Los Angeles Kings game. Tickets for Wednesday’s game and all games throughout the rest of the regular season are currently on sale at $22, $44 and $54 at the Joe Louis Arena Box Office, all TicketMaster locations including Hockeytown Cafe, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, or charge by phone at 248-645-6666.  Fans also can purchase tickets by logging on to DetroitRedWings.com
