friend. With the Stanley Cup in tow, Babcock visited patients and their families at Children’s Hospital creating smiles and memories to last a lifetime.

“It really means a lot to me,” said Blake Jackson, 7, a cancer survivor from White Lake, Mich.

Jackson who lists Pavel Datsyuk and Darren McCarty as his favorite hockey players was among dozens of children and parents who had the opportunity to see and touch the Cup during the visit.

A staunch advocate of pediatric cancer research, Babcock hosts a patient and parent from Children’s Hospital at each Red Wings' home game. The Wings have also sponsored three projects at the hospital over the last four years – the Hockeytown Kids Wing, a family waiting area in the Intensive Care Unit; the Red Wings Play Zone in the main lobby; and a portion of the resign of the Hematology/Oncology Waiting Room.

In addition, the Wings and Children’s Hospital have teamed up for 13 years on the Red Wings Wish Club, a program where fans can have a wish displayed on the Joe Louis Arena Jumbotron for a donation to Children’s Hospital. Since its inception, the Wish Club has generated more than $250,000. The Wings also make an annual team visit to Children’s during the holidays and several players make individual visits throughout the year.
