Thorsten Kaye is among the Hollywood celebrities scheduled to attend the Summer Soiree and Celebrity Golf Classic.

DETROIT – On August 24, and August 25, 2008, Ilitch Charities will hold its Summer Soiree and Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit two important local charities. Both events will give metro Detroiters the rare opportunity to mix and mingle with top celebrities. In addition to personalities like Al Kaline, Steve Yzerman and many other current and past professional sports figures that made their name right here in the region, national stars including John Cusack, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Thorsten Kaye are expected to participate.

“Both events are turning out to be hot tickets,” said Ilitch Charities Chairman Christopher Ilitch, who is also president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc.  “We are really excited about the level of support from the business, sports and media communities, and we are especially pleased to have several entertainment stars joining in as well.  This will be a unique and fun experience for anyone interested in supporting our community.”

The events will raise funds to support The Greening of Detroit and The Guidance Center, with each receiving a grant of up to a $100,000. Presenting sponsors for both events are Buick, GM R Works and MotorCity Casino Hotel.

Summer Soiree
On August 24, 2008, Ilitch Charities will host a special kick-off party for the inaugural Celebrity Golf Classic.  The event will be held at MotorCity Casino Hotel, including the top-rated Iridescence restaurant and new ultra lounge, Amnesia. Guests will have the opportunity to meet celebrities while they enjoy delicious foods and smooth summer sounds. There will also be silent and live auctions filled with unique memorabilia and fabulous experience packages.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and a limited number of tickets are still available. Cost per ticket is $250.

Celebrity Golf Classic
The inaugural Ilitch Charities Celebrity Golf Classic will take place on August 25, 2008, at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. This fun-filled event offers participants the opportunity to golf with one of the participating celebrities. In addition it features breakfast, lunch and a cocktail reception. There will also be contests, awards and several unique experiences, such as the opportunity for each foursome to have their picture taken with the Stanley Cup.

The event starts at 8 a.m. and a limited number of golf spots are still available.
