On Thursday, Hockey Canada and  executive director Steve Yzerman announced their 46-player roster -- which includes Red Wings forward Dan Cleary -- that will attend Canada’s national men’s team orientation camp from August 24-27 at Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome.

The 46 players have been identified as candidates for upcoming international events in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and the 2010 IIHF World Championship in Germany.

As a member of the Edmonton Oilers, Cleary, 30, played for Canada in the 2002 IIHF World Championship in Sweden. In seven tournament games, Cleary had two goals, an assist and finished with a plus-2 rating. He attended several Team Canada team camps as a junior-aged player.

The Canadian roster includes five goalies, 16 defensemen and 25 forwards. The list of players includes 40 players with senior international experience, while 36 players played for either the national junior team or national men’s Under-18 squad.

In his fourth season with the Red Wings, Cleary scored 14 goals with 26 assists in 74 games. he had a very productive 2009 playoff run, helping the Wings reach the Stanley Cup finals for the second straight year with nine goals and six assists.

Last week, Red Wings coach Mike Babcock was named Team Canada's head coach for the Vancouver Games, which will be held in February.

The final roster will have to be cut to 23 by the end of the year, when the Olympic rosters have to be submitted.
