Wings help fight breast cancer this Friday

DETROIT -- The Red Wings will host the team’s first annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Friday, October 26, when they take on the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. game. The game is part of the National Hockey League’s Hockey Fights Cancer month when all NHL players wore special pink decals on the back of their helmets to signify the league’s collective effort to raise breast cancer awareness.
A variety of activities are scheduled for the evening to allow everyone to get involved, and help raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.
The team will host breast cancer patients, survivors and their families in an executive suite at the game. In addition, the Red Wings' coaches and front office staff will wear pink ties as part of the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer campaign and several Wings players will use pink tape on their sticks during the pre-game warm-ups. The ties and sticks will be individually autographed and auctioned off during the silent auction on the arena concourse behind Section 115. Other silent auction items include:

Wear Pink!
All fans in attendance who wear pink will be eligible to win autographed Red Wings' memorabilia. The fan with the best pink attire will win an autographed Chris Chelios jersey!
Puck Draw
The Red Wings' wives will hold a puck draw. For just $20, fans can purchase a puck autographed by one of the current players, and one lucky fan will win the chance to meet a Wings' player after the game.
All proceeds from the breast cancer awareness merchandise sales, the puck draw and the silent auction will benefit local families battling breast cancer.

Single-game tickets for home games in October, November and December are currently on sale. Season tickets starting at just $22 per seat are available in 6, 12, 22 and 35-game packages.
