DETROIT - General Manager Ken Holland today announced that the Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Tomas Kopecky to his one-year qualifying offer. In keeping with club policy, additional terms of the contract are not available.
Kopecky (6-3, 205, LW) was Detroit's second round pick (39th overall) in the 2001 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He spent the last two seasons with the Wings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. In two years, Kopecky totaled 23 goals and 27 assists for 50 points and 60 PIM in 118 games.
