DETROIT - Detroit Red Wings Assistant General Manager Jim Nill today announced that signing of forward Kent McDonell to a one-year contract. In keeping with club policy, additional terms of the contract are not available.
McDonell (6-2, 206, RW) was Detroit's sixth-round pick (181st overall) in the 1999 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He was traded to Columbus in 2000 and spent the next four seasons with the Blue Jackets and the Syracuse Crunch (AHL). He has appeared in a total of 32 NHL games (1-2--3) and 227 AHL contests (52-71--123).
