Netminder is scheduled to start tonight
Osgood, who has been sidelined by a groin injury since training camp, met up with the Griffins during their stopover in Detroit this afternoon and is accompanying the team on its two-game road trip to San Antonio (Wed.) and Houston (Fri.).
The 32-year-old Osgood signed with the Red Wings as a free agent on Aug. 8, 2005, returning to the franchise that selected him 54th overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He played parts of eight seasons in Detroit (1993-2001), pacing the NHL with 39 wins in 1995-96, winning his first Stanley Cup in 1996-97, and back-stopping the team to its second consecutive title in 1997-98.
Osgood, a three-time NHL All-Star (1996-98), last played in the American Hockey League during the 1994-95 campaign as a member of the Adirondack Red Wings. He is scheduled to make his Griffins debut on Wednesday, when they visit the SBC Center for an 8 p.m. EST start against the San Antonio Rampage.
