DETROIT -- While the NHL breaks for the Olympics, fans still have an opportunity to enjoy live hockey action in Detroit when many of the all-time greats from two of the Original Six NHL teams come to Joe Louis Arena for the second annual Alumni Showdown in Hockeytown. Alumni from the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens will face off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 in what promises to be an exciting event.
Fans in attendance will be treated to a fun, highly competitive game featuring some of the greatest players ever to don the sweaters of two of the NHL's most storied franchises. All fans at the game will be entered into a post-game drawing for a chance to win the game jerseys worn by the Red Wings players. In addition to the game, fans can also purchase a limited number of tickets to a 3:30 p.m. autograph session with the players from both teams, as well as a post-game reception with the participants at the Olympia Club in Joe Louis Arena.
Former Red Wings greats scheduled to attend include: Marc Bergevin, Doug Brown, Shawn Burr, Dino Ciccarelli, Marcel Dionne, Steve Duchesne, Bill Gadsby, Dennis Hextall, Mark Howe, Mike Krushelnyski, Igor Larionov, Reed Larson, Ted Lindsay, Eddie Mio, Lee Norwood, John Ogrodnick, Robert Picard, Dennis Polonich, Mickey Redmond, Pat Verbeek, Johnny Wilson and Paul Ysebaert. Dave Lewis will coach the team.
The Canadiens Alumni roster has some of the greatest names in the history of the franchise, including: Benoit Brunet, Marc Bureau, Enrico Ciccone, Russ Courtnall, Lucien DeBlois, Gilbert Delorme, Norm Dupont, Gaston Gingras, Rejean Houle, Yvon Lambert, Rod Langway, Sylvain Lefebvre, Craig Ludwig, Pete Mahovlich, Sergio Momesso, Pierre Mondou, Mark Napier, Chris Nilan and Richard Sevigny. Guy Lapointe will be behind the bench for the Canadiens.
Tickets for the game start at just $10 and may be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena box office, all TicketMaster retail locations, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy and Hockeytown Cafe, or charge by phone at 248-645-6666.
