The Detroit Red Wings will be well represented in Turin, Italy during the 2006 Winter Olympics this February. Nine Red Wings were chosen this week to represent five countries as NHL players compete in the Olympics for the third time since they were first allowed during the 1998 Games in Nagano, Japan.

Four Red Wings will represent Team Sweden as Nicklas
Lidstrom, Henrik Zetterberg, Mikael Samuelsson and Niklas Kronwall were all selected on Thursday. Kris Draper was chosen to represent Team Canada, while Robert Lang was selected as the Wings' lone representative for Team Czech Republic.

Pavel Datsyuk will represent Russia as he was named to his second Olympic Team on Friday.

Defensemen Chris Chelios and Mathieu Schneider were each chosen to represent Team USA on Tuesday.

Both Chelios (1984, '98, '02) and Lang (1992, '98, '02) make their fourth Olympic appearances, while Lidstrom ('98, '02) makes his third straight appearance for Sweden.

After missing the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, Schneider returns to the U.S. squad. Currently, he is second among league defenseman with 10 goals and fourth in points with 28 (three behind Lidstrom).

Henrik Zetterberg will appear in his second Olympic Games - his first coming in 2002 while he was still playing for Timra IK in the Swedish Elite League.

Draper's experience on Canada's World Cup rosters gives him his first Olympic bid, along with firsts for Swedes Niklas Kronwall and Mikael Samuelsson.
