DETROIT - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday announced that defenseman Brett Lebda has been assigned to the club by the Detroit Red Wings.
Lebda, 24, has been a regular in Detroit's lineup since scoring a goal in his NHL debut on Oct. 6 at St. Louis. In 43 games with the Red Wings, he shows 12 points (3-9-12) along with a plus-9 rating that ties for fifth among NHL rookies and second among first-year blueliners.
In 11 games over two stints with the Griffins during October and early November, Lebda contributed seven points (2-5-7) and a plus-5 rating. He appeared in all 80 games with Grand Rapids in 2004-05, totaling 12 points (2-10-12).
