DETROIT -- The Red Wings have recalled Brad Norton from the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Grand Rapids, replacing center Jason Williams (concussion), who was put on injured reserve on Thursday.
Williams suffered a first-degree concussion and facial cuts as the result of a body check by Edmonton's Raffi Torres during the second period of the Wings' 3-0 win on Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena. Williams was taken off the ice on a stretcher and transported by ambulance to an area hospital. He was kept overnight for observation and released from the hospital on Thursday morning.
This season, Williams has three goals and five assists, ranking him fourth for the team-lead in scoring.
Norton has played in six games for the Wings this season. He hasn't played since Oct. 18, when he was placed on IR with a separated shoulder.
