Kopecky has surgery; out 10-12 weeks
Kopecky's has added a spark to the Wings' line-up this season.
DETROIT -- Red Wings forward Tomas Kopecky underwent successful surgery to repair an open clavical fracture (broken collarbone) that he suffered in Thursday's game at Chicago. He is expected to be out of the line-up for 10-12 weeks.

Kopecky, 24, has tallied one goal in 26 games this season. A native of Slovakia, Kopecky is in the midst of his first NHL campaign. He was drafted by the Wings in the second round in 2000.

Kopecky was injured 53 seconds into the third period of Thursday's 3-2 win. He was motionless on the ice for a few minutes before being helped to the dressing room by members of the Detroit training staff.

As he approached the Chicago blue line, Kopecky went down and slid into the left boards before Blackhawks defenseman Jim Vandermeer fell on top of him.
