Hasek earns \'third star\' of the week
NEW YORK -- Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff, Florida Panthers center Olli Jokinen and Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending April 1. Each Monday, the NHL will recognize three players who delivered the league's top performances over the past week.

Hasek salutes the fans after he was announced as the No. 1 star in a 1-0 win against Anaheim on March 26.
THIRD STAR -- DOMINIK HASEK, G, RED WINGS: Hasek backstopped Detroit to a 2-0-1 record, posting a 1.30 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage, as the Red Wings moved into first place in the NHL's overall standing. Hasek made 25 saves in recording his 75th career shutout, a 1-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks March 26. He turned aside 21 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars March 30 and made 31 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets April 1. Hasek improved this season record to 37-11-6 with a league-leading 2.08 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage and seven shutouts.

SECOND STAR -- OLLI JOKINEN, C, FLORIDA PANTHERS: Jokinen led all scorers with seven points (one goal, six assists) in four games. He opened the week with a goal and two assists in a 5-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning March 27 and tallied one assist each in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Atlanta Thrashers March 28 and 3-2 overtime win over the Washington Capitals March 30. He closed the week by recording two assists in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes April 1. Jokinen leads the Panthers and ranks 14th in league scoring with 86 points (37 goals, 49 assists) in 79 games. He is one goal, two assists and three points, respectively, from matching single-season career highs set in 2005-06.

FIRST STAR -- MIIKKA KIPRUSOFF, G, CALGARY FLAMES: Kiprusoff backstopped the Flames to three consecutive victories, posting a 1.30 goals-against average and .959 save percentage. He made 38 saves in recording his seventh shutout of the season as Calgary defeated the Minnesota Wild 1-0 in overtime March 27, blocked 23 of 25 shots in a 4-2 victory over the Wild March 29 and closed the week with 32 saves in a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks March 31. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner as the league's top goaltender has posted a 40-21-9 record, a 2.40 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in 71 appearances this season.
