Howard recalled; Dom out, Kronwall to IR
DETROIT -- The Red Wings recalled goalie Jimmy Howard today from their American Hockey League affiliate in Grand Rapids. The Wings also placed defenseman Niklas Kronwall on injured reserve retroactive to January 30 when he suffered an SC sprain during the third period against Phoenix.

Dominik Hasek is day-to-day with minor inflammation of his hip flexor. Chris Osgood and Howard are expected to dress for Tuesday night’s contest at Nashville ( 8 p.m. ET on FSN Detroit and 97.1 FM The Ticket).

Hasek, who has a 19-7-3 record, also missed three games earlier this season with a sore hip.

Howard has appeared in 39 games this year for the Griffins, compiling a 17-19-2 record with a 2.61 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. He was named the AHL Goaltender of the Month for December when he posted a 1.72 GAA, .939 save percentage and two shutouts while allowing two or fewer goals in 10 of 13 games.
