DETROIT – Living up to its reputation as one of the best amateur hockey programs in the United States, six Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club teams won State tournament championships in Michigan last weekend and will now head to Nationals, making it the most teams the Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club has sent to Nationals in its 40 year history.

The following boys’ teams were victorious:

The following girls’ teams also took home top honors:

  • Little Caesars 12U Girls also received an automatic bid to represent the state of Michigan in this year’s National tournament to be held in Westchester on April 4-6.  The team finished this season with a record of 30-12-2.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for the players, coaches, families and for our entire organization,” said Bill Ciraulo, director of Little Caesars AAA Hockey. “Our primary goal in this program is to uphold the reputation of one of North America’s most recognizable and respected amateur hockey organizations, and the success in the State Tournament clearly shows we are meeting this goal.  We have a tremendous group of young athletes participating in the Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club at all levels.”

Since 1968 when Little Caesars Pizza founders Mike and Marian Ilitch began sponsoring amateur hockey, the world’s largest carry-out pizza chain has supported youth hockey in its hometown of Detroit. Today, Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club fields 14 teams in 12 different age groups: nine boys’ teams and five girls’ teams.

Little Caesars Pizza is proud to be the title sponsor for the Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club and also for the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League, the largest amateur hockey league in the United States.

Little Caesars President David Scrivano congratulated the six teams on their victories.

“Little Caesars takes pride in providing young people an opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities while growing and maturing into tomorrow's future stars – both on and off the ice," he said. “These accomplishments are the result of tremendous perseverance and commitment, two of the same fundamental core values that drive our business at Little Caesars every day.  We are proud to be associated with such outstanding youth in our community and commend them -- and their families -- on this outstanding accomplishment."

In 1959, the Ilitches opened their first restaurant in Garden City, Mich. Today, Little Caesars is the largest carry-out chain internationally with restaurants on five continents. Little Caesars is growing in prime markets across the country, and is offering strong franchisee candidates an opportunity for independence with a proven system. In addition, Little Caesars offers strong brand awareness with one of the most recognized characters in the country, Little Caesar, which appeals to both adults and children.

In addition to Little Caesars Pizza, Ilitch companies in the  food, sports and entertainment industries include the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Olympia Entertainment, Olympia Development, Blue Line Foodservice Distribution, Champion Foods, Uptown Entertainment, Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraising Program, Ilitch Holdings, Inc., and a variety of venues within these entities.
