Pair of former 2006 draft picks sign 3-year entry level deals

DETROIT -- Red Wings general manager Ken Holland announced today that the club has signed forward Dick Axelsson and defenseman Logan Pyett to three-year entry level contracts. In keeping with team policy, additional terms of each contract were not disclosed.
Axelsson (6-foot-2, 176-pounds) was drafted by the Red Wings in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He played for Djurgardens Stockholm of the Swedish Elite League in 2007-08. Axelsson finished the season with 12 goals and 13 assists in 47 games.
Pyett (5-foot-11, 198-pounds) was a seventh round selection (212th overall) of the Red Wings in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He captained the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League in 2007-08 and finished the season with 20 goals and 34 assists in 62 games.
