Wings sign Downey to another season

DETROIT -- Red Wings general manager Ken Holland announced today that the club has re-signed right wing Aaron Downey to a one-year, two-way contract. In keeping with team policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Downey signed with Detroit last season following a training camp tryout and appeared in 56 games for the Red Wings, registering 3 assists and 116 penalty minutes. In addition to his time in Detroit, Downey has spent parts of 8 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens. In 239 career NHL games, Downey has collected 7 goals, 9 assists and 487 penalty minutes.
