Training camp golf outing raises $110 K
DETROIT -- The Red Wings today announced the 10th annual Training Camp golf outing held Friday, September 19 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City, Mich., raised more than $110,000 for I.C.E. (Involved Citizens Enterprises).

“The support we continue to receive in Traverse City and throughout the entire State is overwhelming,” said Executive Vice President and general manager Ken Holland. “The whole community rolls out the red carpet for us every year, and taking a day to give back to the community is a great way for us to kick-off our season.”

All foursomes were paired with a Red Wings player or staff member with over 200 golfers taking part in the outing. Matt McBride of Ft. Myers, Fla., made a hole-in-one on the Wolverine Hole 12. McBride won a two-year lease on an Audi A5 generously donated by Eitel Dahm of Eitel Dahm Motor Group, the title sponsor of the event for the 10th consecutive year.

More than 600 guests attended the charity dinner which included a live auction that featured a road trip with the team. The bidding for this item reached a total of $40,000 as two fans and a guest will join the Wings on Red Bird II for three pre-season contests.

In addition to the live auction, the dinner included player antidotes from their time with the Stanley Cup over the summer as well as a question and answer session with Holland and coach Mike Babcock. The Stanley Cup appeared at both the outing and dinner giving hundreds of fans the opportunity to have a photo with hockey’s top trophy.

Formed in 1982, I.C.E. is a Traverse City based 501 (c) (3) charity that aims to provide affordable skating in their community.
