DETROIT -- Red Wings forward Johan Franzen suffered a Grade 2 sprain to his Medial Collateral Ligament in his left knee during the second period of last night’s 6-5 shootout victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. The injury occurred with 6:55 remaining the second period when Franzen and Blackhawks’ defenseman Brent Sopel collided in the neutral zone.
Franzen, who did not travel to Los Angeles with the team last night, returned to Detroit this morning and underwent testing at the Detroit Medical Center. He is expected to be out of the lineup for three to four weeks.
